Firdars are a traditional Persian-Arabic technique of planetary periods. Each planet rules a specific number of years, and the sequence of rulers describes the chapters of life. AstroTarget uses the Chaldean order.
The Chaldean sequence
The classic order is Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, North Node, South Node. Each planet has a fixed length: Sun 10 years, Moon 9, Saturn 11, Jupiter 12, Mars 7, Venus 8, Mercury 13, nodes 3 each.
Interpreting the firdar ruler
The ruling planet of a firdar period becomes a dominant background theme. Its position by sign and house in the natal chart shows where and how its energy will manifest. Sub-periods add more detail within each chapter.
